She was the second wife of the Reverand John Smith and a daughter of Colonel David Mason of Boston. She died on December 20th, 1845, at 83. During her life, she taught as a professor of the Learned Languages at Dartmouth College.

Contextual Data

Epitaph emphasizes the importance of a leading a virtuous life. Living to 83 was an impressive feat in the 17- and 1800’s. Perhaps this is a reference to how endearing yourself to others might lengthen your life.
