Samuel Gilman Brown was the son of Francis & Elizabeth Brown. He was born in North Yarmouth, Maine on January 4th, 1813. He died in Utica, N.Y. on November 4, 1885. From 1840-1867 he was a professor at Dartmouth College. From 1867-1881 he was the President of Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. His wife, Sarah Van Vechten, was the daughter of Jacob & Catherine Van Vechten. Born in Schenectady, N.Y. on June 15, 1819, she died in Norwich, Connecticut on Oct. 15, 1893.
