Cultural Context:

• In higher education there have been recent attempts to make institutions more inclusive, which has resultantly led to more implementation of “political correctness,” a movement which seeks to regulate phrases and behaviors that may lead historically marginalized peoples to feel attacked or unwelcome. Many view this movement as walking a thin line between inclusion and censorship, and thus is often met with criticism amongst Humanities majors which value open and inhibited dialogue in order to generate cultural understanding.
