Small Hands – Keaton Henson

Genre: Indie Folk

Mood: Cry

For real, Keaton Henson is one of my favorite artists of all time. I know I say that a lot, but I truly mean it this time. His lyrics is one of the most heartwrenching things you will ever hear. And I love my guitar folkish music. He is my favorite genre.

I could listen to this whole album on repeat forever, but I really wanted to share this song with you in particular.

I am a sucker for the acoustic guitar. There is something so raw about only the strumming in the background. But I really enjoy this riff in particular. Why? I have no idea.

The lyrics are what we need to talk about though. They could break someone’s heart. For example:

Miss you terribly already,
Miss the space between your eyelids,
Where I’d stare through awkward sentences
And avoid through awkward silence.

This is poetry, which Keaton is very good at. I mean, who thinks about the space between someone’s eyelids when something awkward happens. It happens, but the fact someone wrote it down, is absolutely beautiful.

Though Keaton repeats how he misses this person over and over again, his reasons for missing them hurt your gut. You can feel his hurt, you can imagine it.

I will probably write about more songs of his in the future.

If you want to contemplate life, give this song a listen. I hope you enjoy 🙂
