Flip! – Sydney’s Armour

Genre: Alternative

Mood: Contemplate Life

As I was driving to meet with band members of Sydney’s Armour Dean Markham and Zeb Mrowka, I decided to listen to their new album “Climate of Our Age”.

While listening and cruising down the highway ready to get some good coffee and conversation, I heard the song “Flip!” off this new album.

I don’t know why it stuck out to me. Maybe it was the guitar riff throughout the song, or the lyrics, or the drumming… I am not sure. But I remember that it caught my attention.

While I was talking with Dean and Zeb, they both talked about this song.

Dean: “It’s definitely a departure from everything else we did…”

They incorporated a lot of different musical functions into this song they hadn’t before. There is a lot building in the background which gives a really unique sound. However, the lyrics are able to say what they need to say.

Dean: ‘To me, the lyrics are ultra personal… it’s a lot of what I was dealing with at the time.”

Though I am not sure what the lyrics mean to Dean, I understand what it is like to “…stay on my toes, stick to what I know”.

I highly recommend this whole album, but give this song an extra listen.

I hope you all enjoy!
