Latino Murals in Chicago
For our final project, we decided to explore the impact that murals have had on the city of Chicago and within the Latino community. The video highlights the journey of murals to Chicago and how artists such as the Mexican muralists known as "Los Tres Grandes" came to influence the styles of today's Latino artists. We also show the impact of the mass immigration of Latinos to Chicago, and how the oppression of their culture and identity led to Chicano and Mural movements. Finally, we showcase Chicago's west side neighborhood, Pilsen, which has been famously know for the numerous Latino murals that decorate the walls of the town.
