Redistribution

The recent issue regarding the female-dominated trips directorate inspired this poster. Following the announcement of the trips directorate a white male student released an op-ed. He argued that he had been wrongfully denied a spot on the directorate because he could not fathom the notion that women, women of color and queer women of color, could be more qualified for the position. In response, the email released in solidarity by the Asian American Students for Action stated “Redistribution is not Injustice” and I wanted to highlight this point for my project. Marginalized communities have been denied power, economic justice, and representation is all aspects. Redistributing power is necessary; it is a step towards justice. White men continue to dominate just about every industry. It is ridiculous that a white male student felt so entitled that he chose to publicly attack the women who earned the directorate positions over him. I think this issue speaks to the issue of Latinx representation in the media and in any positions of power.
