Communities often use public art to promote inclusivity and foster a sense of belonging. However, minority voices are often silenced in these works of art in favor of aesthetic pleasure. Our video project discusses the problematic whitewashing of Burlington's Church Street Marketplace Mural as well as the controversial Hovey and Orozco murals. By looking at the controversies surrounding these murals, we examine the broader issue of minority representation in the United States.
