Conference Draft Comments:

A great start, Kaylee. You’ve synthesized a complex collection of information quite well here. Lots of marginal notes are embedded to the left. I’ve tried to condense those into a few topics of conversation for our conference below: – I wonder if you need a different term than “globalism” to refer to the kind of think you see Powell’s doing. A more precise term like expansionist business…extra-local expansion… might be better. – Work on clarifying your results paragraphs by focusing topic sentences. – You have some options for restructuring results if you want to. A then vs. now structure in part of that section might allow you highlight conceptual tension you’re relying on here (which foregrounds your motive, I think). – I’d like to see you make it clear how the conceptual lens is driving your analysis in the results section. Using key phrases to call back ideas from the Methods section will help. Re-structuring results may also help. – I’d like to chat about your discussion in person. You raise new questions and assert a broader significance there. Perhaps that could be refined.
