Final Thoughts

When I asked Joselina if there was anything else she thought people should know about her or her migration story, she responded “When you meet somebody, don’t judge them for the way they talk or the way they look”.

During the twelve years she has lived in the United States, Joselina has faced situations where people thought she was “stupid”. People made assumptions about her level of education simply from her accent and the fact that English is her second language. Joselina feels that many people tend to make generalization about Latinos, claiming that all Latinos are uneducated and lazy.

So her message is that we should not judge people based on the assumptions we have made about them.
