About the Author:
Christian Perales is a first generation student and the first in the family to be accepted into and attend an Ivy League institution. Growing up in Southwest Detroit, Christian attended Holy Redeemer and Detroit Cristo Rey High School where he gained four years of professional work experience by the time he graduated high school. In his work he shares some of his struggles he faced growing up in the city, as well as the struggles he now faces in college after making it out of the city.
