Svoboda is most notable for his remarkable use of technology in his designs. Throughout his career, he embraced the technological advancements of the day with almost scientific appreciation, incorporating any mode of technology as it was developed for the stage and for society on the whole. His designs were multimedia experiences in a scientific age, with mirrors, lasers, sheetmetal, contralight, and projections. Svoboda also introduce and was a big proponent of the incorporation of film in theatre. This multimedia fixation is still seen often in the stage designs of today.
