What To Do

Find safety. Call 911 or S&S at 603-646-3333.

Reach out for support. Call a trusted friend or family member. You can also call WISE‘s hotline (866-348-9473) or Dartmouth’s Counseling and Human Development (603-646-9442).

Seek medical care. Call Dick’s House (603-646-9401) or DHMC (603-650-5000). Nurses can also collect physical evidence.

Know what happened was not your fault. You are not responsible for the actions of others. No one has the right to hurt you or touch you without your consent. It is not your fault.

Consider reporting. The Title IX Coordinator (603-646-0922) can help you discuss options. If you want to report, Hanover Police (603-643-2222) and S&S (603-646-4000) both receive reports. Someone can stay with you through the process.

Preserve evidence. Even if you’re unsure about reporting, think about preserving evidence to keep your options open for the future. Try to write down everything you can remember about the incident. Avoid bathing or showering, and don’t change your clothes if possible. A hospital can provide an evidence collection kit and perform an exam within 5 days of the assault.
