THEA 17: Theatre & Society III

History in Action: Digital Dramaturgy Project

This project requires participants to apply their dramaturgical skills to a contemporary staging of a play from the theatrical past. Research is an integral component of the work of any theater professional. In order to expand and refine your ability to complete historical research on dramatic texts, each participant will conduct research concerning one of the plays we have read in this class. Participants will use their research to create a digital portfolio that will require written analysis and artistic conception. This project is designed to help participants to develop skills in performing the kind of research needed to become effective actors, directors, set designers, costume designers, lighting designers, publicity/marketing directors, stage managers, and (of course) dramaturgs.
