Final Project

For our final project, my group and I decided to present on international development projects in Nicaragua. We analyzed three different projects and displayed their benefits as well as problems and challenges associated with these projects. Above you will see the slideshow that we presented in class and below is a PDF of the presentation as well as an in class recording of us presenting it. The three projects we analyzed were the funding of sugar plantations by the World Bank, the Education for Success Project, and the Nicaraguan Development Cooperation Strategy. These three projects all have positive goals for the people of Nicaragua. Nonetheless, they are not all necessarily being implemented correctly. We proposed creating pamphlets with this information to take with us to Nicaragua in order to raise awareness of what programs are available so that the locals can see the pros and cons of each of these programs in order for them to be able to create and sustain successful development projects. Something else we proposed is surveying the locals about their opinions of these development projects and correlating that with their sex, age, religion, as well as their community in general. With this information, development projects can be better targeted and implemented depending on the wants and needs of each community.
