Reaction Paper 3 Reflection

After my RWIT session with Mr. Arunav Jain, I was able to sit down and physically see how a grader might assess my paper. It was interesting to see how a trained eye finds mistakes, even if I think it’s completely sound. I wrote in response to Eberstadt’s scholarly article on Korean Reunification and specifically, I argued FOR Korean reunification due to the massive economic benefits.

Originally, I planned to write about the social, political and economic benefits but I realized writing the economic alone took up about 6 pages. As a result, I would love to write about the political and social ramifications of Korean reunification for future projects. I would especially love to give some personal anecdotes that are missing from the countless scholars that consider themselves experts.

In terms of strategies, I feel that my way of combining multiple sources and making them flow as one unit is my greatest strength. Especially in research papers, I feel like that I do a good job in presenting information in a concise way. However, I definitely feel like I suffer when I attempt to talk about something personal. As said before, I attempted to bring some personal anecdotes into my original draft and failed miserably as I just felt awkward and naked talking about my own experiences.
