Hello! Welcome to our “The Feminist Guide To Get Out”. Conceptualized initially as a final project to a Dartmouth College Women and Gender Studies course on ‘Contemporary Issues in Feminism’, this site seeks to situate Jordan Peele’s Get Out (2017) within contemporary feminist frameworks. By no means do we consider this an exhaustive analysis of the entire film. Instead, we hope to complicate existing analyses by drawing from theories and contemporary issues surrounding feminism that we’ve encountered in class this term.

Thus, this site can be considered a work in progress – there is certainly room for expanding and interrogating the information we present, as well as introducing radically new interpretations. As you explore, you’ll find specific moments and themes explained, outside critiques presented, and a plethora of ways to continue engaging with many of the film’s salient themes through art, readings, and other forms of media.

Please feel free to comment on any aspect of the website – we look forward to the continued discussion!

Enjoy!
