Ball in a Basin Model

The “Ball in a Basin” Model is a visual representation of the current state of a socio-ecological system based on external changes. This model is often used in Environmental Studies to provide a greater understanding of the socio-ecological system. When dealing with system resilience, the model can be used to determine how much change a basin can experience without causing the system to leave the basin. The following diagram provides a detailed explanation of the “Ball in a Basin” Model.
