My first concept map displays the four different world-views of environmentalism, as specified by Clapp and Dauvergne in Paths to a Greener World (2011), as well as my own personal opinion on sustainability. This map draws from the general idea of a political compass, distinguishing mainly between globalization-positive perspectives (world-views that believe in global-connecting processes such as immigration) that are generally optimistic about our current system and more pessimistic, globalization-negative ones (world-views that believe in more local processes such as community building). From there, the two sides of this spectrum are further divided on the issues of strong government and population growth, respectively, to give the four general world-views of environmentalism.

This is an important topic to display on the home page of my website, since understanding each one of the worldviews is absolutely essential to throughly analyzing any arguments on sustainability and to formulating one’s own opinions on the next steps for our world. The map above contains the tools that provide context for the rest of the website, so absorb, click around, and enjoy!
