Theater

The theater has been a big part of my life since both my parents were always involved in both the local theater and my school’s performing arts work. They often directed and acted, so even if I was not personally involved I was always a witness to their activities. My own roles in the theater often meant acting, choral work, or working with the soundboard. I would also help out with the odd background jobs when my parents were directing, like set painting, costume creation, or supervising the young actors.

While at Dartmouth I decided to take both my old love for creative writing and theater and explore an art I had not yet tried playwrighting! I took a playwrighting class with the incredible Mfoniso Udofia and by the end had two short plays that are listed below. It was a great experience and I hope to continue my exploration of playwrighting and even more so the world of these particular plays I wrote. I am a theater minor so have also taken several other theater classes. For production credits I was involved in the Radical Joy Project, a production credit seminar that theorized a production of No Exit and I also directed a StudioLab Production of Rivka’s Reading Rainbow a short play by Emma Ginsberg ’23.
