Why did you choose this as your “best piece” from First-Year Seminar or Humanities 2?
This was my only real opportunity to do some degree of creative writing in my First-Year Seminar, and it worked out really well. The class was very emotional to me because of the difficult topics of death and illness it covered, and the field trip the essay is centered on was key to a lot of my emotional investment in the class. This assignment allowed me to express myself in a way that I cannot in most academic essays, and it worked out really well because it was my top-scoring assignment in the class.
