Bella Jacoby:   A   S H O R T   B I O

I’m from a small town called Huntersville, which sits about 30 minutes outside
the rapidly growing city of Charlotte, North Carolina. I grew up with a sister two years younger than me, and my brother was born when I was twelve. I love the outdoors and pretty things. I’m studying studio art and environmental science at Dartmouth College, in Hanover, NH – graduating class of 2020.

To me, writing is an essential part my ability to express and communicate my thoughts. I see it as more of an art than a science, and love poetry and anything that uses language in unexpected ways. That being said, I’ve so enjoyed my writing classes at Dartmouth so far, and I can see my skills improving through learning various standards for truly effective communication. I’m really interested in art history, and have always been fascinated by the politics of the Mexican Mural movement. That’s what lead me to take the Mural Art in Mexico and the U.S. seminar during 17W. In particular, I’ve always been hung up on Diego Rivera and the complexity of his art. Through my final research paper, I decided to explore his life in more detail to reach a better understanding of his life and work.
