Video PSA

I chose to do environmental conservationism, specifically focused on the nature of the Upper Valley, New Hampshire area for my video PSA.  My target audience was the residents of the Upper Valley area, especially Dartmouth students, who are the most directly affected by this issue and are a moderately politically active, and generally liberal, group.  I tried to evoke a personal sense of responsibility towards the saving of the local nature by presenting video clips that would remind people of the positive experiences they have had in the Upper Valley’s environment.  Interspersed between these fun scenes I posed questions about the viewer’s level of attachment to their environment and, further, their commitment to preserving that environment nature and for themselves and, by extension, future students.  I wanted the audience to feel a mixture of fondness, nostalgia, and even guilt to spur them to visit the website I provided at the end, which detailed various specific ways that one can help to protect the environment in New Hampshire.

I would’ve liked my transitions where I posed the questions to look a little more high quality and natural then I was able to.  I felt that the pure white words on black screen broke the immersion that the phone recorded videos produced.  I think with better transitions the entire video would have looked a lot more professional and been more effective at conveying my message and call to action.  I also would have liked to used sound in a more dynamic way; I think that the song I used set the right tone for the video, but I would have liked to incorporate audio further to add another dimension to the video, though I am not positive it would have enhanced the overall quality of the final project.
