The assignment was to create an infographic that informed our audience about a specific group and an event related to this group. I chose #Blacklivesmatter as my group. I choose mass incarceration as my subject my infographic will cover.

This infographic project had a very simple goal. I wished that anyone viewing this infographic will better understand the concept of mass incarceration and how it is used to repress African-Americans. I did this because many people do not see why groups like #Blacklivesmatter are so enraged at everything that is going on in this country. It is so imperative for everyone, not just African-Americans, to know what is going on in this country so real change can occur.

My purpose for this project was to inform my audience on the atrocity that is the mass incarceration of African-Americans. I wanted to display the institutional racism that occurs within the government’s ranks. By doing this I can hopefully inspire someone to enact real change in their respective communities, physically and online, to end the repression of African-Americans as a whole.

I feel like I accomplished much of what I wanted to do for this project. I could have improved my infographic slightly. I have too much text for infographic standards. Although my message still got across, I could have done better. I accomplished a lot for my first infographic and hopefully this can be used across social media to educate people on mass incarceration and add to the movement in a positive manner.
