Project 1 for my Writing 5 class, Cultures of Place, culminated in a traditional, thesis-last, interpretive essay. The goal of the project was to interpret an object through a critical regionalist lens, using scholarly conversations about critical regionalism as a guide. Our argument was supposed to reinterpret, recontextualize, or otherwise somehow add something to conversations about critical regionalism through our analysis of our chosen archive.

For my project, I chose to write about Wiz Khalifa’s music video, “Black and Yellow”, and I used various critical regionalist experts’ lenses to determine whether or not it was an accurate representation of Pittsburgh, PA.
