W.E.B. Du Bois was born in 1868 and in 1895, became one of the first African Americans to receive their PhD from Harvard University, while being a key pioneer in the writing of African American history. During the Feminist movement, he was known for his ideas of intersectionality that connected women with being black and working during this time. His work with Margaret Sanger was important, as bringing birth control into the black community was a battle in itself with black nationalist groups like the Black Panthers. W.E.B. Du Bois felt black women could make political changes more profound than black men and even white women.
