Elizabeth Cady Stanton was a first wave feminist living from 1815 to 1902. While her main focus was directed toward’s women’s suffrage, she also supported many other advances; she was an avid abolitionist, and had a characteristically broad approach to feminism, advocating for a range of issues such as employment rights, divorce rights, and birth control for women. She also drafted the “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions”, which was presented at a 2 day women’s rights convention, and authored a prominent essay called “The Solitude of Self”.
