1) Divisions of Space

The seating areas are divided by both a system of clear glass railings that enclose the couches, and a drop in floor level between the seating spaces. These divisions make each seating area seem a bit more personal and private.

  • IMG_13032) The low, clear glass creates a sense of security within the seating area without feeling trapped.
    2) Sound

There is one space that is somewhat private for conversation. On the eastward facing wall, one table surrounded by a red booth rests in a small alcove.

IMG_11503) This space is one of the only places on the floor that is acoustically sheltered. This makes it accessible to small groups for conversation, but limits this congregation to one or two.
3) Natural influence

The ground floor is designed with regard for elements found in nature. The calm feeling produced by this natural feeling is an important part of the security that contributes to the relative privacy and quiet of the space.

1) Stone makes up some walkways and seating areas, and the stairs and railings are wooden.
