We have decided to build this project by making two separate git branches and working on them individually. Pierre was mainly concerned with the UI while Themis mainly worked on Services, interaction with the map and the Firebase Relational database.
For the first part of our project, the two halves of the app have not yet been merged together. However, each part is functional on its own and presents the features our app will have. For Show and Tell 2, we shall present those two parts separately, along with the MVC diagram seen below.
The APKs for the two parts of our apps can be downloaded by using the following link: https://old-www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~tkhar/A.html
We present a snapshot of our modularized work in GitLab as well as a fully functional MVC diagram below
NoChances is an app that makes sure people which don’t want to meet each other don’t meet each other.
Parodying the popular “LastChances” match-making platform on Dartmouth College, NoChances gives the users the chance to stay clear of unwanted interactions and embrace their anti-social nature by using their GPS location information and intricate graph algorithms to minimize the chances that these interactions happen.
The app also collects information (only provided the user’s clear permission) about a user’s trends of moving around on Dartmouth’s campus and thus providing more accurate predictions about the probability that someone will be at a specific place at a specific time.
The app allows the user to modify the frequency at which they want to avoid their selected acquaintances and even calculates so that surprising encounters can happen between people who dislike the same person, as they can bond over their common distaste of that acquaintance!
