What my project should accomplish:

I hope that my project succeeds in humanizing both Mens’ Rights Activists like Fred, and fathers who have had their children taken away. I feel that too often fathers are immediately labeled as “dead-beat dads.” While bad parents exist, and might even be common, we should be encouraging parental partnerships, where both members have equal rights and responsibilities to their children. It seems that fathers have their wishes for their children ignored all-too-frequently, and I hope that this podcast can help some people see the humanity in that cause.

Who my audience is:

The audience for this pod-cast is meant to be broad, but does not include some groups who might find this story or content offensive. I imagine that this group would only be a small fraction of people on either side of the feminist-MRA continuum. However, since The Red Pill was protested by several feminist groups, and those who are not associated with a particular group but claim to be feminists, I must think that there is a percent of people who would be automatically turned off by this discussion. Another small group has heard of the documentary, and will be turned off by the mention of it. These two groups likely would be very difficult to persuade, and so cannot be included as part of my target audience. In this piece, my audience is moderates on the spectrum from men’s rights activists to feminist and those who lean, even considerably towards men’s’ rights. These are people who want to advocate for equality. Parents, and those who have marriage somewhere in their mind might be particularly interested in this. Those men who have experienced the broken and discriminatory nature of the child custody system would also find this story particularly motivating, and hopefully would be inspired by it to know that they are not alone. Most would not have had the financial resources that Fred did in the story to carry on for as long as he did.
