Welcome to Mycocommunity!

Hi everyone, my name is Madeline Levangie (she/they) and I am currently a senior at Dartmouth, and I will be graduating this spring. I study geography and chemistry, and I am really passionate about community, fungi, radical joy, music, and learning!

This is an experimental place where I will be sharing activities, reflections, fun facts, pictures, ideas, art, and writings created by myself and others that will all center around fungi and community. I am hoping to create a space of imagination and possibility where we can think and create worlds and knowledge together that will create possibilities for present and future flourishing. I believe that community and fungi are a great place to start for creating flourishing because as Robin Wall Kimmerer writes “all flourishing is mutual,” and as fungi help us see, we are all entangled in each other’s lives. Fungi also complicate many of the ways we are taught to see the world in the west, they disrupt what it means to be an individual, a disease, alive and dead. They also help us think about the ways our lives are entangled in others. I will continue to expand upon these ideas in other posts on this site as I go!
