About Me

Hello, my name is Jennifer Lopez. I am the oldest child of five girls, and first generation to attend college.  My parents, both from Guerrero, Mexico, came to the U.S. 20 years ago to start a family. Raised and born in Chicago, Illinois, I have fallen in love with the Hermosa and Humboldt neighborhoods.

I’m a current freshman student at Dartmouth College, Class of 2020. My intent is to major in biomedical engineering and minor in studio art.  While here, I’ve become involved with D-Lab (Dartmouth Leadership Attitudes and Behaviors Program) and boxing club, including my three courses.

I took this course, Transforming Public Space: Mural Art in Mexico and the United States, because of my interest in creating art and the history of the Mexican Revolution. I was also taking Drawing I, and I drew the image above, Immigration, as my final project for the course. Unconsciously, the drawing has a mosaic aspect which reminds me of Diego Rivera’s murals.
