Josie Harrison is a filmmaker from Usk, South Wales (UK). She graduated from the Ivy league university Dartmouth College with a BA (Hons) double majoring in Film and Media Studies and Geography, with a minor in Asian Societies, Cultures, and Languages.

An avid filmmaker, she loves the genre of documentary and telling stories that are often swept under the rug, or not given enough attention

She has a passion for the sport industry and sports media as a former collegiate rugby player and three-time USA collegiate national champion. She loves to support the Welsh rugby national teams, and will get invested in any rendition of sport that is on show. While a former athlete, Josie is an avid supporter of Female Athletes and the constant need for better representation, investment for equal pay and equal play.

Josie’s Artist Statement

In my filmmaking I highlight the quiet moments in life. Using the discussions you have in your head to create reflective and meditative short documentaries. I transform regular spaces such as bedrooms and classrooms into liminal spaces through the use of lighting and image projection.

I create stories and tell stories of female athletes, students, Vietnamese graffiti artists, their experiences and their interactions with society at large. How do people interact? How do identities intertwine with experiences and relationships?

I want you to question my work, to use it to fuel discussions and discourse. It might empower and provide representation that you never even realized could exist.

Welcome to my world.
