Border Relations

Due to the proximity of Texas and Mexico, many Latin American immigrants will settle in Houston and other Texas cities. 

With the influx of Mexican immigrants, cultural changes, assimilation, and acculturation have occurred throughout the state and specifically Houston.

It is through statistics such as these that we are able to see the vast impact that the immigrant population has had in Texas and especially Houston.

With a population this diverse, Houston has the unique ability to mix and blend cultural practices from all over the world. These cultural changes have had many affects on the cuisine that is currently provided in Houston.

This large amount of Latin American immigrants has caused significant change to Houston cuisine and has caused the development of the delicious food known as Tex-Mex.
