About Page- I will discuss the problem of Dengue in Nicaragua. I will cover the signs and symptoms associated the disease. Moreover, I will discuss preventative measures that would help alleviate this public health issue.
About The Author- I will discuss my experience with LACS 20, Nicaragua, and the Spanish language. I will go into detail about my previous experience in Nicaragua doing service work. I will also discuss my experience with Spanish at home and in school. Moreover I will discuss my reasons for taking LACS 20.
Blog- The blog posts will cover my opinion and perspective on some of the topics that we covered in class. Blog posts will cover topics such as, tourism, ethnography, and health care issues.
Oral History- The Oral History Project will cover the experiences of Lindsay Salem, a Dartmouth '18, as a service-learner in Nicaragua. Lindsay will describe her experience working with AVODEC in Jinotega, and how this has impacted her perspective of service-learning. She will discuss the projects that she has worked, also her opinions on "voluntourism."
Final Project- This project will delve into an Analysis of the policies implemented by the Somoza and Sandinista regimes. By creating a comparison between these two governments, we hope to illustrate a clear divide or change between these two parties/leaders. We will also discuss some policies under the Chamorro, Aleman, and Bolaños governments.
