The Summary and Response assignment involved more individual work from the Behind the Podium paper, which made it more challenging. Unlike the first paper we wrote, we were not given a list of sources to start off. I had to compile my sources and generate an argument based on what I learned. However, we talked about this topic a lot during class which helped tremendously. We read through three papers on the topic that we were supposed to write about which helped me gather my thoughts and have a frame of reference. Despite the challenges, I found writing out a very detailed outline helped a lot. It made it much easier to gather my thoughts and write the essay. The number one thing I learned from this assignment was that outlining is very helpful. Not only should one outline before writing, but it is also beneficial to outline while writing. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how my paper turned out.
