Informant Data

Anna Pope Emerson was born on March 8th, 1812, and died August 27th, 1881. She was married to Joseph Emerson, who is buried next to her. She was the daughter of Reverend Roswell Shurtleff and his wife, Anna Pope Shurtleff.

Contextual Data

This epitaph is taken from Psalm 16:11, as written in the King James version of the Bible. Given that Anna was the daugher of a preacher, it is likely that she was a religious woman, and thus it would make sense that she would want a religious epitaph written on her gravestone.
