Envisioning the Future

Envisioning the Future

After reflecting on past and present environmental problems, we need to implement a plan for the future. This concept map portrays my view of obtaining a sustainable future, through a shift in the actions and values starting from the bottom with each global citizen as well as from the top with international government change. Such levels of scale impact and catalyze each other, further encouraging change. The interconnected relationships between the economy, society, government, and environment also regulate each other to create a resulting impact in general global ways of life and perspective of the importance of sustainability.

Sustainability Case Study

In this Swedish case study, home economics teachers facilitated a new syllabus to implement sustainable development (SD) in home education, in hopes of encouraging a more environmental friendly consumer generation. Their education system was intended to raise awareness of food consumption and the inevitable unsustainable resource consumption that results from our current eating habits. This concept map explains the suggested actions for individuals and local communities to put their plan of sustainable development  in action. The red boxes depict the many current roadblocks, both within the education system and in surrounding environmental factors, that the education system currently faces. However, if successfully implemented over time, the left side of the map portrays the necessary actions and their positive effects that fall in the responsibility of countries and the world as a whole.
