DDoS Case Study

This is an essay I wrote describing a specific case of Distributed Denial of Service legal prosecution and the reasons why I believe DDoS forms of hacktivism should be decriminalized. My argument is supported by scholarly articles, news articles, and primary sources surrounding DDoS in general and the particular case of Eric Socol, a Wisconsin man who was heavily punished after taking part in an Anonymous DDoS attack for 60 seconds.

I believe this is my best piece of writing from Writing 5 because I weaved the narrative portion of the assignment almost seamlessly into my argumentative thesis. I also draw upon many outside sources for this essay, using evidence effectively and integrating quotes into my own writing well. Apart from this, I also felt that this essay was the most fun to write. Coming from Wisconsin myself, it was interesting to see how the material that I was learning about in class was influencing the political environment in my home state.
