At Thayer School of Engineering, I conducted materials research in Professor Ian Baker’s Lab, investigating sustainable thermoelectric materials for recovering waste heat into usable electricity. During my internship, I learned to utilize equipment such as a vacuum arc melter, high-speed precision saw, polishing wheels, and graphite mounter to produce precise samples for analysis, and conducted materials characterization with the SEM/EDS and XRD.
Skills:
- Laboratory safety, working with equipment like 3000-7000C arc melters and high-speed saws
- SEM/EDS and XRD analysis
- Independently carrying out experiments
