EARS 33 | River Delta Data Analysis

April – May 2023

For my term project in EARS 33: Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, I presented Zhang et al.’s paper on comparative river delta management to my class, and then delved further into worldwide river delta growth/decline by analyzing data on 47 global river deltas across 12 environmental change scenarios (Dunn et al). I wrote a tutorial-style Jupyter Notebook script for the 50×60 dataset that visualizes how climate change, socioeconomic development, and dam construction can influence sediment delivery to river deltas.

Here is my presentation on comparative river delta management, designed to be visually appealing and clear to an audience with an introductory understanding towards earth science:

Skills:

  • Data cleaning and visualization with Python, using packages like numpy, pandas, pyplot
  • Reading and explaining scientific articles to a general audience
  • Presenting
