So far, we have discussed relationships, gender, and the ideal of a utopia in relation to artificial intelligence. The common theme among  them all seems to be the danger of crossing the line too far when it comes to how integrated we become with artificial intelligence, as well as how far we should go to keep improving society. Knowing that we will never reach perfection, we should caution ourselves in light of all the different warnings that the discussed films and literature bring to light.

Looking forward

We must continue to dream, create, and imagine. The next inventions on the table present day seem to be totally autonomous cars, maybe one day flying cars, and fully functioning robots. While we are not yet exactly at the stage of creating cyborgs such as Yod, we must consider not only the goal of increasing utility and efficiency for humans, but also the potential consciousness and awareness of the machines we create — if we reach that level of complexity in our ability to create.

Nevertheless, we must remember that if we are to hit that level of complexity in our creations and reach a point that is extremely unknown to us, the first thought should not to be destroy, but perhaps embrace with consideration of benefits and harms. While many believe that one day artificial intelligence will replace real workers, they must also recall that for such a widespread and large scale integration of artificial intelligence, it would cost the government millions, perhaps billions. That cost would ultimately be a major barrier in the reality of that happening.

In the end, artificial intelligence has proved extremely useful, and it should continue to be.
