In 2021, assistant professor of Anthropology, Dr. Maron Greenleaf, and Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Sarah Kelly started the Energy Justice Clinic with six student research assistants. As a clinic, we are collaborating with the town of Hanover and their Energy Taskforce to support the inclusive and equitable launch of their community power initiative. The other case study we are collaborating on involves a transnational hydroelectric power conflict based in southern Chile, with Mapuche-Williche ancestral leaders and communities as local partners. Currently, we are developing a comparative timeline of community power in New Hampshire and California, and creating a timeline of the energy conflict in Chile.

Dr. Maron Greenleaf will share these materials with the Energy Justice cohort when she teaches Environmental Justice this winter. We also hope to publish the results of this comparative engagements with energy justice with Dartmouth undergraduate student collaborators in an academic journal.
