Watching terminator 2 for the first time definitely reinforced my initial knowledge that the movie was a classic action film. Similar to children of men, I thought the action aspect of the movie was more apparent and more emphasized than the speculative fiction aspects. It’s was almost hard to remember that arnold schwarzenegger was playing a cyborg when he just seemed like a conventional action hero, and this is where I think it is easy for viewers to disregard the science fiction nature of the film.
The film metropolis felt much more marketable as a science fiction film compared to terminator 2 and children of men. I found the movie quite engaging even though it was a silent film, but the characters were very stereotypically portrayed. I think the film is a good example of old science fiction stereotypes and comparing Metropolis to more current films would show how much progression has occurred
