Moving Forward
For a long time, Hollywood has made it difficult for Latinos to get out of Latino-specific roles. Hollywood typecast Latinos into stereotypical roles and would expect them to perpetuate the stereotypes of their race. As more and more Latino actors have proven themselves through their talents and as more actors have made efforts to break down stereotypes we start to see a glimpse into what soon can be a diversified Hollywood.
Change in Hollywood
Diversity within Hollywood still needs a lot of work, but efforts made by Anthony Quinn and Eugenio Derbez reveal that social norms within the industry have started to change. They have proven that Latino actors can diversity their roles successfully and exemplified what it means to be skilled actors.
If more focus is placed by new generations of Latino actors to break into non-traditional roles, prevent negative Latino stereotypes from being showcased on screen and if more people bring this issue to large media outlets, in the next few decades, we can see more Latinos entering executive positions at film studios, on film screens, and in diversified roles. Thus, resulting in a more diversified film industry.
