This was the third part of the score to my film “Four Weeks.” I wrote this piece to represent a constant exchange between pairings of the two violins to contrast with the viola and cello. While I wanted to play with the romantic beauty of the viola playing on my repeated theme with increasing intensity with the power of the cello that is delayed intentionally to correspond to the concept of someone missing a planned date, I wanted to use poly-rhythms and Neo-Riemannian progressions as a contrast of utter chaos before the pairs unite near the end. The attached recording of this score is an unedited performance by Kevin Lin, Matthew Timofeev, Jason Pak, and Elizabeth Lee.
