After creating an infographic and podcast on the topic of human trafficking, I was looking forward to the opportunity to focus on a call to action. As I scanned the Internet searching both for inspiration and video material that I could use, I realized that quality public service announcements on sex trafficking were limited. Although this created a challenge, it also helped me to narrow my focus on what I wanted my audience to take away. I was able to focus on creating a tutorial type genre that would allow my audience to learn about the prevalence of sex trafficking in the United States, how to recognize a victim, and what to do. I chose to do a tutorial/drama video because I felt that trying to reenact a specific story could be corny, and possibly inappropriate for my audience. I also did not feel that a talking head siting a bunch of statistics would be appropriate for my topic. Overall, I was hoping to raise awareness to sex trafficking in the United States by informing my audience about signs to look for in victims, and a tangible way to respond: calling or texting the Human Trafficking Hotline.
