The assignment that we were given required us to create an infographic about a topic of our choosing, highlighting major statistics, in order to inform our audience. When creating an infographic, the most important thing to remember throughout the process is who your audience is, because that determines the information that you choose to highlight. I tried to keep my audience in mind every step of the way, specifically targeting those who do not know much about sex trafficking, and are unaware of its prevalence and effect, especially in the US. Sex trafficking, however, is an incredibly broad topic because it encompasses all races and genders, as well as different types of trafficking: slave labor, prostitution, sex extortion, and more. In an effort to narrow down my topic, I chose to focus on child sex trafficking with the hope that by bringing people’s attention to the youngest population in this illegal industry, we might nip the problem in the bud by starting at the source.

Looking back on the project, I really enjoyed the opportunity to create an infographic, focusing on details, while also telling a visual story in how the information is portrayed. One thing that became very clear to me after the project was that sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest differences.
