Lime Cordiale

Lime Cordiale is a band made up of two brothers from Sydney, Australia. They’ve been playing pop rock and alternative music for over a decade, publishing EPs and singles since 2012,  but only released their first studio album, “Permanent Vacation,”  in 2017. Especially with this album, their style is hard to categorize as just alternative, pop, rock, or indie: their sound changes so much across each track they almost sound like a different band. Songs like ‘Giving Yourself Over‘ and ‘Underground‘ give off serious Arctic Monkeys vibes, while their 2019 single ‘Robbery‘ sounds like Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig singing over a Change The Rapper intro and a continuous bridge from The Strokes. This isn’t a bad thing! The diversity of their style and sound is enticing and fresh, meaning you can listen to JUST Lime Cordiale for an hour straight, as I just did, and not get bored for a second. As a result of their varied style, some of the songs make you want to get up and boogie, while others are perfect for a highway singalong. And still, some of their music just screams “sit back and enjoy the show.” The more you listen to Lime Cordiale, the more you realize how complex each of the songs are. Layered percussion and baselines, a commanding voice, horns, a piano, a guitar, and more, there’s almost too much going on at any one time in Lime Cordiale’s music to pay attention to everything. It’s daunting, yeah, but it also never leaves for a dull moment and ensures there’s always something stimulating to listen to. Lime Cordiale has an impressive cache of music out already, but they’re definitely a duo to keep an eye on in the future. Take a listen below or by clicking on any of the songs/ albums mentioned in this post!
