Reflection

200-word reflection on the writing concepts or writing processes that you adapted in order to incorporate multiple media. What writing standards or elements do you think were present across all assignments, and in what ways did they change in this assignment?

For Project 3, I strived to follow a loose IMRD structure. My website’s organization incorporates an introduction, an analysis of contextual lens, a results section and broader social implications. However, in order to adapt multiple media within the structure, I decided to split up each section so it is easier to follow for my audience. To make viewer access easier, I included headings and sub-titles in each section. These served a similar purpose to traditional topic sentences, providing a quick, easy summary of the ideas that come in the next paragraph. Similar to the IMRD structure, figures were included as a complementary reference to the essay portion. In addition, because this is a website medium, I can adapt citations by linking specific websites. The writing elements that were present across all assignments were the need for an organized structure and clear purpose. All assignments used the 3-step motive formula in order to clarify purpose, and similarly in this assignment, the motive structure appeared at the end of the introduction. Because this is still an academic analysis, the standard of formalities is still present in the assignment. However, because the presentation is a website, it made sense to include more personalized opening gambits and sentences to catch the audience’s attention.
